Age Home
The Christ Church Old Age Home is a Social Service Project
of the Christ Church
Trivandrum, managed by a Charitable Society of its members
registered under the Charitable Society Act No.XII of 1995(T.C)
. The Home is built on a beautiful plot of land in the Christ
Church Parsonage compound at Nanthencode is very near to
the Devaswom board junction, just one kilometer away from
Christ Church Palayam. This beautiful three storeyed building
designed and constructed by the world famous architect Mr.
Laurie Baker.
This home became a reality by the general contributions
of Christ Church members and well wishers and also substantial
amount of advance by Christ Church. The foundation stone
for the building was laid by Rt. Rev.Dr. M.C. Mani, the
then Bishop of Madhya Kerala Diosece on 3rd July,1992, after
construction the Home was dedicated and opened by The Rt.Rev.Dr.Sam
Mathew the then Bishop of M.K.D on 12th February 1995. Rev.Dr.
T.M.John, the then vicar of Christ Church was the main inspirator
behind this project and he with a team of Christ Church
members helped to complete the project within a short span
of time. The Old age Home was setup with the intention of
providing comfortable and peaceful abode for aged people
who have sufficent means to support themselves, but with
no one to take care of them in their old age. This Home
tries to give physical and emotional comfort to the inmates
as well as fellowship of Christ Church as a community.Admission
is offered to deserving applications either single or couple,
and the inmates have to meet their own boarding and lodging
expenses and the Home provides the necessary services to
make them happy and comfortable. Apart from Old age people,
a few girl students are also accomdated in this Home on
the 1st and second floor of the building, who came to the
city to attend coaching classes and also pursue technical
studies and this has helped the Home to raise adequate resources
for the smooth running of the Home. However, care has been
taken not to deny admission to eligible old persons seeking
admission to our Home. One room is always kept vacant for
guest accomdation mainly guests from Christ Church.
The affairs of the Home are managed by an elected committee
from its society members and vicar of Christ Church, Palayam
is the ex-officio Chairman and The President of the Society.
